Common courtesy

Common courtesy...sounds simple, doesn't it?

Please, thank you, keep to the right of the road, keep to the right (period), please wait for others to leave the elevator before you get on.....can you tell people piss me off?

I work in an environment where 100's of people pass through our doors everyday, people of all shapes, sizes, age, ethnicity, people...all different.....and I'd say, of all the people I encounter daily, 1% possess a small amount of manners or practice common courtesy. And I cannot say that that 1% are of a certain age, or pinpoint what is similar amongst them, other than they are polite and remember to treat others how they would like to be treated. If I had a dollar for everytime the elevator doors fully opened and someone barged on without waiting for those on the elevator to disembark - I'd be a Tim's XLDD 5 times a day gal. Yes, it happens that frequently. Combine that with people meandering through the halls, walking 3 or more abreast, you can't get past them...., when you yourself is trying to be polite, holding a door, or whatnot, would it kill you to say THANKS ?!?!?!?!?!?

Nintendo Wii made me a nympho

No, not me! This was the headline in the UK's Daily Star newspaper.

A young woman in the UK fell off her Wii Fit Board, landed on a nerve which triggered PSAS (persistent sexual arousal syndrome). She states that "anything with a vibration turns me on". Poor thing, food processors, electric shavers, even her cellphone.

Now in light of this....I wonder how many man (and women) will rush out and buy their spouse or themselves a Wii with the Wii Fit package? hmmmmm......

Today's news

I have a habit of reading multiple on-line newspapers before I start my day as well as CNN.com.
In the local news, there is the usual...."Open beer leads to gun, hash bust on Halifax street", "Man arrested after traffic stop nets sawed-off shotgun", and my favourite "You're not anonymous on the 'Net". The latter referring to a potential slander suit started by none other than the HRM Fire Chief and Deputy Chief. The two went to the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia to approve a request to reveal identities and IP addresses of up to seven individuals who posted comments in response to an article in "The Coast" (application has been made to Google as well to reveal similar information). The offending comments have been removed from the weekly's website and now, the general public who were not aware of the article or the comments made, are effectively in the dark as to why exactly the Chief and Deputy Chief feel they have been slandered.

Will be interesting once the "identities" are revealed to see if these remarks had been made by someone in the general populous or from a current employee of the HRM Fire & Emergency Department. The 'department' makes the news seemingly on a quarterly basis, mostly in reference to some from of discrimination or in an effort to reign in the hundreds of staff in their employ. Keep an eye on the local news to see what comes to fruition now that C and DC have the blessing of the Supreme Court of NS to obtain their requested information from The Coast as well as Google.

IN OTHER NEWS
Wow, the demise of several celebrity pairings were posted on CNN.com today. Larry and Shawn King (both filed for divorce within minutes of one another citing irreconcilable differences), **this is Mr. Kings 8th (yes, EIGHT) marriage. In another news article it says that Shawn believes that her husband had an affair with her sister (yes, you did read that right, her sister). The pair had been married for 13 years. **edit: revised from 7th to 8th. Apparently Mr. King has been married 8 times to 7 women

Another pairing that bit the dust was that of Mel Gibson and his Russian GF Oksana Grigorieva. The two had split after a year of dating, and are parents to a 5 month old daughter. Now if you do the math, (and perhaps they split long before this was published) it just doesn't work out..

And last, but not least. Melissa Etheridge and her wife Tammy got married in 2003, is this a case of the "Seven Year Itch"? The couple have two children born in '06. Melissa also has two children from her previous relationship with Julie Cypher (the ex-Mrs. Lou Diamond Phillips).

That's enough from me today....stay tuned for something about dealing with a company's representative who possess NO SKILL in the communication/customer service department...

Where to start....

I think I'll make my first post about random things I have seen while out shopping....

Like this....can something be classified as a "meatball" if it contains NO meat? This is a vegetarian product offered in our local grocery store.

How about this one? This is a label on a scanner - at a print your own photo kiosk.....and I quote.... "produced by a pofessional photographer"
