Posting twice in one day.....what brings me back?
We'll, years ago, I used to dabble in beading and jewelery making. But, since my move back to my birthpace, my homeland, to the arms of my family and loved ones, I haven't done much by way of crafts. As a matter of fact, just in this past week or so, I have finally unpacked my supplies out of the box they have been in for more than two years. Yes, it's about time.....
I am actually looking forward to making some new pieces, and finding some treasures at yard sales or second hand stores. I am always on the look out for older jewelery that I can "re-purpose" - there is nothing better than finding something old that you can make new again. Who knows, I might even sell some.
Another thing that interests me is lampwork. This is the art of creating your own glass beads. I have seen some handmade beads for sale in shops for crazy amounts of money. Not that I'd want to make them for sale, but, if I could master this technique - I could make my own unique beads and save money in the long run (and I say long run, as the initial outlay for basic tools is in the $200 range). There is a local stained glass shop that offers classes and the opportunity to drop by on a Wednesday to watch experienced lampworkers make their exquisite pieces.
Back to the organizing of the supplies, and perhaps make a piece or two.
